1. Focus on: SETTING: a. When and where does the book occur?
The book occurs in 1969. In a history high school class. The setting is in Palo ALto California.
b. List at least three things the author describes that gave clues it was written during that time period, rather than today! Look for what is different than our school and others you know.
One thing is that they can wonder through the classrooms durning lunch time. Another is they use vcr's to watch historical moments. Plus their chairs were singly seated like you would see in the Balboa Park school.Lastly the lunch cort was inside, not outside.
2.A sentence that jumped out to me was: ''Robert's case was tough: the younger brother wallowing in the shadow of an older brother who had been the quintessentual model student and a big man on campus.'' It JUMPED out to me becuase, alot people have that problem. It kind-of made me sad because he could suceed in so much more. But he chooses not to because hes probably sick of being prefferd to hey thats jeff's little brother. But it jumped out to be also because how his brother is doing so good but he isnt.
3. Why do you think its so odd that Robert turned out so much different this his older brother Jeff?

1. I don't really think that it's odd that Robert didn't turn out so much like Jeff because everyone is different. But I think that Robert didn't turn out like Jeff because every one has a different personality. Also you chose what you want to do it's not our choice it's your's and I guess that Robert chooses to be the way he is.
2. I like the quote that you chose. It really helps you imagine what's going on. It also gives you clues that Robert isn't anything like his brother.
1. i don't think that robert is so diffent from his brother. robert problably saw that he might never be as good at everything as his brother. So after he figured out he might never be as good as his brother he just gave up.
2. i like yoour quote because it tells us how diffrent robert is compared to his brother. I also liked it because it says that if you have a older brother thats a role model you may never be recognized.
1. I agree with the evidence you used to back up your prediction for the time period where the book took place. Although we have a few different clues, I think that they are all correct. But other wise i agree with your observations.
3. I agree with Ambar it is not odd that Robert is different because everyone is. We may have the same parents but that does not matter. "You are who you are"

1. Great job. Sorry for anwsering so late! I went water Sking all weekend long. Anyways, I have to say the list three things you did really good but, there can be lunch corts can be inside too :).
2.I like your stentance that JUMPED out at you. Because, the story is right. A younger brother is kind of rolling trying to become older and wiser. Like his older brother for exaple!

3. For number three you did the question that said " Why do you think its so odd that Robert turned out so much different this his older brother Jeff?" I don't think it's odd. I think that because, My sister and I are totally different! i mean not all siblings can be that same. Just look at us!
